Junior Backend Developer

Are you interested in renewable energy and smart systems? Would you like to work on software that directly impacts how green energy is traded and managed? Good news! We have a spot waiting for you to grow as a Junior Backend Developer, with excellent guidance and plenty of opportunities to learn.

Your role on the team

As a Junior Backend Developer on the Trading & Market Integration team, you’ll work at the heart of our operational platform: the systems and algorithms that determine how and when energy systems are controlled and how they are deployed across various energy markets.

You’ll build (and learn to build) scalable backend solutions that support real-time decisions based on market prices, grid conditions, and asset behavior.

Here are some of your responsibilities:

  • You will contribute to the integration with external marketplaces, network operators, and trading platforms.
  • Together with your fellow data scientists, you will develop and maintain systems for managing energy assets (such as batteries and solar farms).
  • You’ll contribute ideas throughout the entire software development process: you’ll be involved from design through to implementation.
  • You actively contribute ideas regarding the performance and reliability of systems that directly impact operational results.
  • You will participate in team meetings, planning sessions, and sprint reviews.

What do you bring to the table?

  • A degree from a university of applied sciences or a research university in a relevant field.
  • Experience with Python and (an interest in) backend development.
  • An interest in data, algorithms, or (near) real-time applications.
  • You are fluent in Dutch and/or English.
  • You are eager to learn, enjoy contributing ideas, and work well with others.

Press

  • Experience developing production-ready software (e.g., services, data pipelines, or integrations).
  • Experience with frameworks such as Django, Flask, or FastAPI.
  • Interest in or experience with energy markets, trading, or optimization challenges.

Haven't checked off all the boxes yet? No problem—feel free to apply.

About Repowered

We help owners of large-scale energy connections gain insight into and control over their energy. To do this, we balance supply and demand. We provide expert advice and manage assets intelligently. This enables our customers to maximize the return on their energy systems. Our mission? Sustainable energy—at the right time, in the right place, and at the right price.

Hybrid work

Repowered has offices in Groningen and Amsterdam. We work in a hybrid model: partly at the office in Groningen or Amsterdam and partly from home. During the first two months, we’d like you to be in Groningen at least two days a week so you can get properly settled in. After that, we think it’s important that you’re in Groningen for the biweekly sprint kickoff, but there’s plenty of flexibility depending on what works for you.
