Our VISION
We’re all making the switch: from a centralized, demand-driven energy system based on fossil fuels to a sustainable, decentralized energy supply. All those solar farms and wind turbines are making our energy system a lot more complex. That’s because a fossil fuel power plant can be brought online quickly, whereas renewable energy generation is highly dependent on the weather. On a windless night, the lights have to stay on, of course.
Demand response, storage, and the conversion of renewable energy—such as through batteries and hydrogen—along with smart engagement with energy markets, will be crucial in the energy market of the future. We call this energy flexibility. Faced with this challenge, Jeroen van den Berg and Dirk Jan Masselink decided to combine their years of experience in grid management and energy trading. In 2019, they launched Repowered; working toward the energy systems of tomorrow.
This new market for flexibility offers a wide range of opportunities. New roles for energy producers and consumers. New players entering the market. But also new revenue models. By making renewable energy systems smart and working with dynamic energy contracts, companies can now respond to energy markets automatically. This gives them back the control over their energy supply that they were accustomed to with fossil fuels. By making smart use of savings and revenue opportunities in those markets. And by contributing to balancing our energy grid.
Repowered has grown significantly since then. And we remain just as purpose-driven as when we first started. From our offices in Groningen and Amsterdam, we help governments, businesses, and local energy initiatives make their energy systems future-proof. Our mission: sustainable energy at the right time, in the right place, and at the right price.
