Take control of your energy bill again. That’s what Repowered’s smart energy providers are here to do. But who are the people behind the company? Get to know them in the series “The Energy Managers.” In part four, we talk with Jelle Stoppelenburg, Business Developer at Repowered.
“The term ‘Business Developer’ covers a wide range of responsibilities. As a result, my role is quite diverse. In short, I work on all kinds of projects that help Repowered and our clients move forward. For example, I’m currently exploring how we can give our clients access to more electricity markets—and what that entails. As a project manager, I first consult with my colleagues in data to ensure we can effectively offer our services in the new market. Then I create a plan for how the proceeds will be distributed to our clients. But because of my financial background, I also work on financial projects. For example, I ensured that we implemented direct debit for our clients, and I prepare various monthly reports.’
Addressing traffic congestion
“I’m also heavily involved in developing our congestion management services. Repowered is officially a Congestion Service Provider (CSP). With this service, we help grid operators relieve pressure on the power grid during times of real strain. To do this, I consult with our customers and the grid operators, and I ensure that the agreements made are actually followed through on. As I said, it’s a broad scope, but that’s why it never gets boring!”
Everything under control
“Because there are many different projects running simultaneously, often over extended periods, it can sometimes be a challenge to keep all the balls in the air at once. Especially when multiple projects require action at the same time, this demands a clear overview and meticulous planning. At the same time, the energy market is anything but straightforward. The market changes rapidly, and there are many laws and regulations that don’t always align with real-world practice. In any case, there are numerous rules, exceptions, and frameworks—all designed to keep the energy system in the Netherlands stable. That playing field presents an interesting challenge: a decision made in one area can have an impact on something entirely different. So we have to be very mindful of that when we develop new products or adapt existing systems.”
Flexibility is in our DNA
“Flexibility is really in Repowered’s DNA. That makes for a great work environment: we have short lines of communication and plenty of room for initiative. Also, because we’re a rapidly growing organization, not everything is set in stone yet. As a result, you can really see that the work you deliver makes a difference for the organization. And the team of passionate colleagues is a pleasure to work with.”
Keep it simple
“The strength of Repowered lies in keeping things simple—both for our customers and in our behind-the-scenes work. Reality isn’t always straightforward, but we’re the ones who make that connection. In many ways, we’re not a traditional energy supplier. Thanks in large part to the combination of our consultants and our service team, we always have a solution ready for our customers and partners.”
