Gain insight into and control over your energy. That’s what Repowered’s smart energy providers are here to ensure. But who are the people behind the company? Get to know them in the series “The Energy Managers.” This time, we’re speaking with Alfred Rodenboog, Principal Data Scientist at Repowered.
Smart models behind smart energy
“I work on the AI models that power our smart services. This involves predicting energy prices and production, dealing with uncertainty in a smart way, and optimizing decisions in real time. I work closely with the forecasting and trading teams on this. But my work doesn’t stop at models alone: I also contribute ideas about the future of our data science approach and help colleagues improve their skills.”
The challenge lies in the mix
“Energy markets are unpredictable, but our models must still support decision-making at lightning speed. That requires more than just a good algorithm: you also need to know when a model is wrong, recognize unusual outliers in the data, and ensure everything remains reliable as the volume of data grows. That combination of mathematical depth and practical application is what makes my work challenging and interesting every day.”
Opportunities for specialization
“What I like about Repowered is the field and the team. And the fact that data science isn’t just an afterthought here, but is at the heart of what we do. Here, you’re given the freedom to go a step beyond the standard solution, to specialize, and to make a real contribution. That’s something that’s truly valued here.”
Strength Through Collaboration
“Repowered combines in-depth knowledge of the energy market with modern, scalable technology. It may sound obvious, but unfortunately, that’s not always the case. That combination is rare. It allows us to respond quickly to new developments and truly help our customers move forward.”
Face problems head-on, don't avoid them
“What energizes me is the culture at Repowered. We don’t shy away from difficult problems—we seek them out. There’s always room to do things right and help one another. You can see that in how the team works and thinks. For me, that’s exactly the kind of environment where I can do my best work.”
